ONCE UPON A BUS FOR SCHOOLS
Once Upon A Bus offer a creative storytelling environment, on a customised double-decker bus, primarily focussed at, but not limited to, children aged 0-12 years
in the South-East UK.
Once Upon A Bus is a self-contained mobile project designed to provide a fun space in which to learn about and explore the many facets of language and communication, through traditional storytelling.
The vehicle has been designed and refitted to the highest specifications to provide distinct, exciting spaces to promote both the desire and the ability to learn. State-of-the-art technology and visual projections provide an immersive experience, that entertains, captivates and inspires our audiences without compromising the real-world, face-to-face environment and traditional storytelling values that underpin the project's vision.
Our service delivers a range of educational activities to children and an opportunity for teachers, parents and carers to engage in a positive and productive social environment...

The Once Upon A Bus came to be part of the prestigious Children's Literature Festival at Eagle House School on 18 and 19 September 2015. The magic and creativity of Arti and Matthew could not be faulted as they narrated and shared stories with children over the two days. Boys and girls entering the bus are taken to a new world and the brilliance is that the bus evolves into whatever theme has been planned.
From the moment they assemble outside to watch the magical Bubble Man, the children are entranced. Arti's characters are played out brilliantly and she leads them on a journey through the bus, reading and sharing and fully immersing children into the world of storytelling. We could not have been more delighted with the response from the children after their adventures on the Once Upon A Bus. They have not stopped talking about their experience and there is no doubt that the bus helped make our Festival a huge success.
If your children love stories they will adore the bus and I would urge you to let it park up at your school and create its magic.

USEFUL INFORMATION FOR SCHOOLS
Group Sizes
The bus has been designed to accommodate an average classroom of children and carers comfortably.
Additional adults accompanying children have use of a seating area at the back of the upper deck (aka the book corner) which can seat c. 10 adults.
The length of each session is tailored for each school dependent on the number of children.
For reference, we have been able to accommodate a school of 420 pupils with 20 minute workshops spread over a school day.

NB. Once Upon a Bus can only be hired for a full day during Book week due to demand; Extra fees may apply. Please enquire for details. For reference, our standard price for Private Hire is normally £250 per hour for a minimum two hour booking.

Once Upon a Bus can run power through a normal supply. We carry a 50m extension cable. The bus is also fitted with an internal generator. In the absence of an available power supply the generator can be utilised. This is charged at £10 per hour.
Travel/fuel is charged per mile
For long distance travel,
overnight expenses may be charged.
Schools within the London Low Emission Zone
will occur an additional charge.
Special Themed stories and seasonal special sessions (Yuletide Experience, Halloween, May Day etc) may incur additional charges for extra staff, staging etc.
