A totally wonka'd
storytelling trip!
~ WITH US, AT ONCE UPON A BUS ~
A series of interactive storytelling workshops
inspired by the life and works of
Roald Dahl
In the first instance, being entirely concerned
with the ideas that inform the marvellous tale of
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
and the character of
Willy Wonka

Wednesday brought the most exciting arrival of “Once Upon A Bus”. Themed as a Chocolate Factory, the children each took a turn to visit the storytelling bus and role play a scene from a story. What a fantastical and imaginative time they had! They met *Wonka* and (her) trusty helpers and marvelled at the areas of the bus adorned with giant-sized sweets and candies. I heard one child remark that they wanted to move in and have it as their home! (I can see where she was coming from!)

The children had a marvellous week celebrating World Book Day and reading: Once Upon a Bus's Storytelling and performance has proved to be such an imaginative and magical experience for all the children who met Arti and her trusty narrator. All areas of the bus were adorned with giant-sized sweets and candies... the children all felt so inspired... here are some of their comments:
‘I like the bus because it had a TV
and we could smell chocolate’
‘I like the bus because you could become one of the five
children in the story and you could take part’
‘It was really good and it smelt like sweets’
‘It was really fun because we weren’t just sitting down,
we were interacting with the story’
‘I liked it, we didn’t just listen to a story.
Also the bus looked amazing and I felt I was in
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’
‘I was exhilarated at being in such a magical world’
‘I like it because you got to act and sing and the act they did was entertaining. They decorated the bus really colourfully! It was good for all age groups. All the school enjoyed it’
